Voting Booth Faith

If a Christian is one who follows Christ and His teachings, why is it that during an election many Christians forsake their faith in God and transfer it to faith in man?

Generally, Christians claim Jehovah Jireh as their provider, but in the voting booth many choose their candidates based on how they think it will benefit them financially.  The integrity of a candidate and his or her moral values, aren’t taken into considration.

The defining issue seems to be the economy, or some other matter that the voting individual looks at which will affect him or her personally.

According to God, if we vote that way we have it backward.  The Bible says, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”  Matthew 6:33

God’s will needs to be restored as our first priority.  It’s in Him where our prosperity resides.   And I don’t just mean financial prosperity, but quality of life.

It’s time we begin choosing our candidates based on their moral character and how closely their lives and issues align with the principles in God’s word.  Christian or not, the person who genuinely wants to benefit personally will choose God’s plan because it works.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”  Psalms 33:12
